Welcome to Houston Connection

Membership

Application for membership will require the following:

  • Invitation by a current member in good standing
  • Prospective members cannot conflict with an existing member.  If the  current member is able to demonstrate a conflict with their business, profession, etc. the prospective member is not eligible
  • Able to show a history of experience in their specific category

Luncheon meetings are held the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month as follows:

At each meeting attendees will be able to present their 60-second commercial about who they are and what they offer the membership.  In addition, they may be able to include other areas of interest, including non-profit opportunities or specific business insights to help each other.  Also, this gives members an opportunity to thank each other for either 1) referrals or 2) doing business with each other.

Following the introductions, one member will be spotlighted and have the opportunity to present a 15 minute presentation about their business.

Meetings will be structured as follows:

11:45 am – networking
12:00 pm – introductions and thanks you
1:00 pm – member spotlight
1:30 pm – adjournment

On the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month, an open house is held at the business of the member who had their member highlight at the luncheon meeting.  This is an informal after hours event (5:30 PM – 7:30 PM).  Members and guests can see where our members operate their businesses and meet their staff.  It is a great way to continue networking and learn more about each other’s businesses in a different setting.

As attendance is always important in organizations for growth and support, there is an attendance requirement.  As we have 6 meetings per quarter, members missing more than 2 meetings per quarter may lose their membership rights, subject to review by the board of directors.  At the time of joining GHBC, members may nominate an alternate attendee for meetings.

Cost:

Quarterly Dues (6 luncheons) - $80
Semi Annual (12 luncheons) - $140
Annual (24 luncheons) - $270

Dues will be invoiced at the beginning of each quarter and due no later than the 2nd lunch meeting of that quarter.  If unpaid by the 3rd lunch, the category will be open to invite a new prospective member.  Members may choose to pay dues semi annually or annually, thereby receiving a discount.  As this is a not-for-profit organization, dues include the cost of the luncheon and any unused funds available at the end of the year will be used toward a holiday gathering or a charitable donation.

Members who invite guests to attend are required to ask each guest to complete a form, collect the luncheon fee of $15 and deliver the form and funds to the Treasurer.

Dues will be prorated based on remaining luncheons in the quarter, half year or full year, depending on how the new member chooses to join.

Dues may be paid by cash or check.
